See full blog post here… Long a favorite with its beautiful lake and friendly people, Malawi is a perfect East Africa destination for the independent backpacker. It’s safe, the climate is ideal, the people are warm and welcoming, and the scenery is wonderful.
In addition to the lake there are endless village roads and interesting towns, and plenty of off-the-beaten-track routes to follow. I spent a month in Malawi in June/July and traveled from stem to stern.
